Spencer is a Founding Partner of Element Ventures, a U.K. based venture capital fund investing in and helping young enterprise financial technology companies reach scale, as financial institutions accelerate their “must do“ digital journey. In addition, Spencer sits on the board’s of several companies including nCino (Nasdaq listed), Fenergo, Nivaura, and Duco and chairs the Advisory Board of Callsign. Previously Spencer spent 10 years at HSBC where he was a Group General Manager, and Vice Chairman of HSBC’s Global Banking and Markets division, having previously run Debt Origination globally, the Markets division globally, and then the Global Capital Financing division (balance sheet and all IB products). Prior to HSBC Spencer was at Merrill Lynch for 17 years in NY, HK and London in various leadership roles in Markets and in Banking. Spencer also chaired the board of ICMA (International Capital Market Association) from 2010 - 2016.
